Late jazz icon’s estate distance themselves from new film ‘Everybody Digs Bill Evans’
It's a shame when a documentary about an artist's life becomes something of a controversy in itself. The fact that Bill Evans's estate weren't brought into the conversation during production raises real questions about who gets to tell these stories and whether having the family on board ought to matter. For music fans wanting to learn about such an influential pianist, this kind of tension can't help but colour how you receive the finished film. We reckon there's a lesson here about doing the groundwork with the people closest to an artist's legacy.
From NME Music: "We were not consulted during the making of the film, were not asked for our input, and have not been given an opportunity to view the film" The post Late jazz icon’s estate distance themselves from new film ‘Everybody Digs Bill Evans’ appeared first on NME.
