Lily Konigsberg – “Free Byrd”
Four years is quite a gap, so it's genuinely lovely to hear Lily Konigsberg back with something as spirited as "Free Byrd". Her track record across Palberta and her solo work shows she knows how to craft indie-pop with real character, and this new single sounds like she's lost none of that energy or inventiveness. For Cledvibes Radio listeners who appreciate artists that bring personality and a playful edge to their songwriting, her return feels well worth celebrating.
From Stereogum: Both solo and as a member of projects like Palberta and My Idea, Lily Konigsberg used to be a prolific force in indie-pop, so it's surprising that today's new single marks her first release in four years. We're glad to have her back in action. "Free Byrd" is a pop song with a skip in its step. There's some real verve in those guitar parts, that drumbeat, and Konigsberg's ever-shifting conversation…
