Outkast have finally had enough of the name confusion, and you can hardly blame them. When a Bay Area artist picks a moniker so close to one of hip-hop's greatest acts that people do a double-take, the lawyers are probably inevitable. It's a reminder that in music, your name is part of your brand, and when someone's deliberately walking that line between similarity and distinction, the original act will eventually push back. We reckon most Cledvibes Radio listeners know their Outkast from their pretenders, but it does raise a fair question about artist names and how much wiggle room there really is out there.
