Song People – “The Cone”
Song People sound like they're operating in that sweet spot where folk tradition meets indie sensibility, and "The Cone" seems to be doubling down on that particular magic. That comparison to Fairport Convention filtered through the C86 lens is quite something. If you've ever wanted to hear acoustic storytelling given the jangly, slightly dreamy treatment, this Philadelphia lot might be worth your attention. It's refreshing when a band can pull from so many influences without sounding like they're just ticking boxes, and their new album Tho I Seem Tame is shaping up to be something worth investigating properly.
