Purplish has been quietly doing brilliant work highlighting music that deserves way more ears, and this new split between SAICOBAB and TAKAAT is exactly the kind of discovery goldmine we love stumbling upon. If you've slept on the label's Bandcamp so far, this is a decent entry point and especially if you're already keen on Mdou Moctar's expansive sound and want to explore what's bubbling around in that orbit. The beauty of a boutique label like this is they're not chasing trends; they're genuinely championing artists and sounds that mainstream playlists would probably overlook. Definitely worth a dig.
