They’re Playing Magic: The Gathering In The Turnstile Pit
Turnstile's shows have always felt like their own world, but now we've got literal fantasy card games breaking out in the mosh pit. Which is either the most metal thing ever or a sign that live music has become genuinely inclusive enough for everyone. The Baltimore hardcore crew's latest tour seems to be attracting such a diverse crowd that you can headbang for three songs, then settle down for a quick Magic match, and honestly, we're here for it. It says something rather lovely about where guitar music's at right now: you don't have to choose between being a sweaty punk and being a card-game enthusiast anymore.
From Stereogum: Last month, Turnstile released the star-studded reimagined version of last year's Never Enough. Their equally stacked tour kicked off last week, and it looks like fans are playing Magic: The Gathering in the pit.
