Yr Knives sound like exactly the sort of band that would give our late-night listeners something to sink their teeth into: thoughtful instrumental music with real emotional weight beneath all that careful composition. The fact that they've got Douglas McCombs involved, alongside other Chicago post-rock veterans, suggests there's genuine pedigree at work here. If their debut album can pull off what sounds like a balance between intricate musicianship and actual heart, then we reckon "Stretch Bath" deserves a place in the Cledvibes Radio rotation for anyone who appreciates music that respects your intelligence without forgetting to move you.
